Of shield, emblems and coat of arms,
Engraved in gold, to appeal to commoners’ charms
How quickly we forget the parable
Of how guests at a banquet are to choose a seat at the table.
Then again, no matter the path,
Or the odd logic of His graceful math
Three nails, one cross= forgivenness given
A reminder of this, each time the Lord’s Supper is taken.
