From the Tower

by Tommia Wright

It is amazing the kind of stance

One can take near the top of the bell tower in Florance.

All the tiled roof-tops below

Filled with families, children who continue to grow.

Whatever path will be found before them

As they let go of their mother’s dress hem

The discoveries made will change their world

Wisdom, knowledge, other items pearled.

Does the casual observer really look around

Or simply stare at the distant ground?

Maybe the observer will see something new –

How can one not from this spectacular view?
