Ever enter into a gathering place and wonder not about the absence of people occupying chairs but of the shadows of the personalities of those left behind? Were the discussions and gatherings amibicle or persuasive? Fun family reunions or purposeful progress being made? Was there singing or storytelling or another artform being created? In the world of social media and instant twitterings, textings, etc – have we lost the fine art of a basic face-to-face visit?

‘The shadows of the personalities of those left behind’… I love that! Are you sure, my friend, that you should’nt be writing another fantasy right now? This line took me mysterious places!
LOL! Thank you for the comment, Winneyb. I may have to see what is spun between now and the next Friday Ficlet/Fragment time. (smile)
Yes, she should be writing stories. I fear the scattered families do mean less face to face time. A pity. They once lined up chairs (not that fancy) at places where my parents would go to dance. I really doubt if they do that in farm communities any longer.
That’s a good question – whether such gatherings still happen in farm communities. I wonder if/how any gatherings happen here in the Valley, not that I’m outgoing enough to find out. Might have to pay closer attention to how the fellowship hall is arranged some Sunday.
