Seventh is heavenly

The set goal was a return to the daily post. Alas, three days were missed, but the result was bliss.

I officially took the plunge and attended my first writers’ conference. Whether it was part of the insanity born in part of starting this blog, or the building confidence from the writing group to be bold – I’m not certain which proper truth could be told.

On the one hand, I could say it was a matter of being a brat (a “41-14 moment” – a certain friend or two would understand that). Or finally learning to listen to my parents about the importance of the recovery of the workaholic. (Granted, there’s a tinge of guilt in missing church today – I won’t deny that). Either way, these past four days have been wonderful play, absorbing so much about words and the stories to say.

At the conference, folks had arrived, near and far – Alaska, Illinois, New Mexico, California – a few I recall. The communion and camaraderie – great support all around. New contacts, friends in arms had been found. To be surrounded by others who learned they are not as insane as they have thought themselves to be – so many people aiming for the same dreams and passions, doesn’t that make a new ‘normalcy?’

While this now ends another “first” – with a new set of challenges to dare the creativity thirst – I will need a day or more to ponder the interlocking, lessons and other wonders. A few more ‘firsts’ are coming up – here’s to hoping I can settle down. With renewed energy and many an idea, I reclaimed my rhythm – may the Muse bloom like a spiraea.

So glad the conference was all you hoped for…so glad you are writing here, again!

  2. We had a good time there, didn’t we?
I am still amazed at the high quality of the contacts we gathered – so many people with so many good ideas and great support.
