A Character’s Stroll

Wonderful illustration of a dry spell.

Sometimes, another artist’s eye creates a new interpretation of a ‘simple scene.’ Sheri’s take on the low river created a new space (and time) to consider for my characters Rita and Jared.

“You have to learn to look beyond the surface, see things that are often ignored or worse, taken for granted. Where you see torrents, I see a trickle. Where you see loss, I see opportunity.” Rita pointed her walking stick towards the bend. “A month ago, you would have thought you couldn’t venture that far out into the river. Now, you can  practically cross it without getting your feet wet.

“So, what are you waiting for, Jared, a dry riverbed or a flood? While you’re making up your mind, I’m going after the perfect skipping rock or two.”
