Sunnin' Slug

Sunnin’ Slug

-ESS
Every single slug
That’s what she shot
Along the trail as the day grew hot
The two of us cried, ‘c’mon, good grief!’
She shook her head, stopping only a brief
Banana, black, spotted, even dead
We asked, ‘mind if we go ahead?’
Every single slug
Her argument sound, as she sat on the ground:
‘you shoot every cactus, isn’t it true?’
Our silence, her reply, ‘this is no different, you two.’
Looking at then, and at Arizona photos now,
Darn, she was right, about the cacti anyhow.
Every single slug –
That’s what she shot.
Wouldn’t you know
That’s what stopped me on the spot.

    This is so delightful!

  2. Too funny! And great lighting in the photo of the slimy critter. Nice!

Hilarious. I’ll admit that I raged an unrelenting war on the slugs, but we did not shoot cacti. We grew them and I still do. Tweeted.
