Thursday Thankfulness

globes

Whichever way the world is spinning
And events get divided between losing and winning,
It helps to have a friend.

Whichever plane of reality you think you’re on
And chaos/conflict/confusion seem too strong
It helps to have a friend.

Whichever choice you decide to make
As you tell yourself it is/isn’t fate
It helps to have a friend.

Wednesday Waters

water in the park

To Splash, Sail or Stay

Life’s journey goes
In different ways
Fabrics of family, friends, trials, triumphs
Every day, how it goes, we do have some sort of say.

So do we trumpet the news like a white lily
Or flow the way of the Jordan?
Undercurrent style, with whispers alone or
Like a mirror, still reflection.

Tuesday Tidbit

carousel

Horse and a Round

Who said I was running around
Going in circles to the increasing sounds
Of the organ’s tune and the flute’s fine thread
Pulling at children before they read
That age is numbers, nothing more
Pass a line, change the score
For if you are taller than a certain sign
The times of play are coming nigh

But to that nonsense I say ‘neigh!’
Grab hold, dear rider – time to play!
Hey Annie Oakley, Paul Revere!
I’m your Man o’War, your Secretariat,
Black Stallion, Seattle Slew here
Constant companion, and like Trigger, too.
Join the roundup of eager long faces
Ready to take you round and round
Towards whatever wonderful adventure
You are bound.

Monday Moment

barren stage of imagination

Barren Stage of Imagination

What do you see on an empty stage
Eagerly awaiting jesters and sages
To recite words that have lasted for ages.

What do you see on an empty stage
Empty of props, backdrops and cages
To guide actors who have their gauges.

What do you see on an empty stage
Beyond the lights above with a faint glow
The orchestra tuning in the pit below

Close your eyes, listen closely
To stories arising mostly
With the whisper of a word
The hum of a string.

What you see on the stage is but a magical thing.

Friday Fast One

Curtain of Water - Thanks-Giving Square

What’s behind the curtain?
Surely you can see
The Past, the Present, the Future
Along with Infinity.
What you see has eroded away
What you see is added today
What will be tomorrow?
Come back and see.

What’s behind the curtain?
Surely you can see
The Actual, the Imaginable
Infinite possibilities.
What’s there
What isn’t
What is in between.
It’s what your heart, your mind, your soul make it to be.

Thankful Thursday

thanks-giving falls

Even when the tear rain falls
As mounting frustration
Calls for justice now
How often do we cry?

Obstacles are barriers
Needing a push aside
Ever offer help to one

On the by and by?
For a hand held out in

Understanding shows someone
Support is near

When stepping back and just
Inspect the challenge as a whole
Lessons do exist and
Love can – will endure

Often the tear rain falls
Venturing from a wrong
Efforts made, an attempt
Releases something strong:
Compassion
Opportunity
Mercy
Even hope.

Wednesday Waters

trickling down

Have you heard the string of pearls
Just beyond the wall?
Large beads, small beads
Some you can’t see at all.
But listen closely as they fall
Along the rippled wall.
Watch the collected droplets flow
In the trail that catches them all.

Tuesday’s Tidbit

IMG_0305

Tip, tip, tip, tap
Click, click, click, snap
One up, two up,
Now it’s three
Words march on while
The keys take turns
With their rat-a-tat-tat
Nouns, verbs, prepositions
This and that
String them together
Line by line
What’s the story?
Give it time.
