Too Much…

never forget

Too much to read
And so little time!
Books everywhere and
Long waits in the holds line
Every day
Thanks to such lists
So much to read

Give me a year paused
And maybe a bit more
Let me read from sunup to sundown
Or maybe ‘til Haley’s Comet comes round
Really, should learn to ignore some post
Even as readers like you share what you like most!

Monday Moment

facing off

64 squares
32 pieces
Unlimited limited moves

16 short pawns and
8 tall warriors
L-shape, one-space, color pace

4 rooks
2 queens
Defenses unseen

1 war
One goal – what strategy?

Queen’s gone – prepare to lose
The framework, the rules
Of a bloodless war
Square off. Blitzkrieg.
Checkmate. Once more

Sunday Snapshot

doors

How many doors would you go through
To become the person you’ll be?
In the various things you do
Are you seeing all there is to see?
Just like the nested Russian doll
Or the simple onion plain
Are we the witty comic droll
Or a sideliner to a game?
In the various things you do
To become the person you’ll be
How many doors will you go through?
That is part of life’s mystery.

Between the limits above and the limits below
Find the path that clearly shows
Anything’s possible with the right supports
Be it a helping hand or a kind word.

Friday Fast One

Looking for a good story?

Rachel Barnard‘s At One’s Beast in audio format debuted yesterday and what a delight it was to celebrate with the gifted author!

Stacy and Jenn Buck’s story, Users, is due out in audiobook soon, too. The sequel is set for release in early March.

Jeffrey Cook, author of the “Dawn of Steam” series, has a new story coming out called Mina Cortez, from Bouquets to Bullets due out by the end of the month.

And if you care for a variety of stories, there is Free-Flowing Stories: FreeValley Publishing‘s anthology.

What new releases are you preparing for?

Thankful Thursday

IMG_0100

Say what you will
– about a movie you hate
– about your last date
– about a garden gate
Say what you
– will to a friend in need
– will to a stranger’s kind deed
– will to plant the seed
Say what
– you will do today
– you will change in a way
– you will can dream for
Say a prayer for the challenges that surround you,
Say a prayer for the blessings that abound
Say a prayer of thanks for sound of the Word.

Wednesday Words

crashing rumbling tumbling

Crashing calendars
Seconds speeding, time flying
Rumbling routines
Same thing, different day
Tumbling time
Rolling along, day after day.

Too Much…

Kat Nap - disapprovedThis is the look I get from Kat (and Kit) when I spend too much time reading and little time doing practical things – like getting a proper night’s sleep. Their response – claiming a preferred portion of the bed when I do finally decide to call it a night and put the book down. Brats.

Monday Moment

IMG_1030

Beyond the Mist, what you cannot see
The sound of waves crashing infinity.
Chiseling away at stone
Since the beginning of time
Truth, half-truths, lies – all intertwined
What you’ll get at the end
Of the falls before the river bends
Is the hope of free-flowing ideas
As fine as the sands below.
The moment we try to silence speech
Is another moment Liberty’s pushed out of reach.
