How quickly this summer has gone

In the distance, a robin’s song

As the rabbit makes it way

And the gray/red sky opens the day.

Now the sun is shining bright

(What better timing, the start of night.)

Some things seen

In the hazy scene

What was, what is, what might never be.

I will take the moon.
You can take Manhattan.
I will take the road.
You can take the batten
Over the Moon’s River
Where the coldness will melt and quiver.
Then maybe you’ll learn to fly again
Towards the Serenity of Infinite Possibilities.

Sweet sounds
Underwater games
More time outside
More changes inside
Evening’s lasting longer
Resting after play, much stronger.

Soaring above fields, waters, homes, streams
Kids at play, adults at work, dreams in between
In the blue peppered with white
Everything same, anew; a different site
Seeing the world below above.

Jagged, coarse, full of strife?
Or branches from a growing tree
Various leaves representing discoveries?

How do we define the lines in our life?
Are they the vines hanging down
Twisting, braiding, aiming for the ground?

How do we define the lines in our life?
Are the lines of our life like the bases of the tree
Nourished by the water, only the outer bark to see?

How do we define the lines in our life?
Laugh lines etched in our face?
Creases in our hands as we embrace?
Is it something less, or something more –
The lines in our life that create the core?
