Today is King Tut day. Not exactly my favorite person, nor is Egyptian history of interest to me.
Saturday was Book Lover’s Day – can’t believe I almost missed that. Spent the day divided between:
- The Sketchbook Fiction Project
- The Sketchbook Project
- NaNoWriMo writing – Day 2
- Revising the followup to “Reflections on Water“
- Marathon Blog Reading
But I digress. Today’s Daily Prompt (and NaBloPoMo) asks: “Tell us about a favorite character from film, theater, or literature, with whom you’d like to have a heart-to-heart. What would you talk about?/Photographers, artists, poets: show us a CHARACTER.”
That could require an entire Pinterest page. The thing about favorites is that they change. However, I’ll try to limit to four in five minutes.
- Almost anyone James Stewart, Cary Grant, Alan Rickman, Sam Waterston, Jerry Orbach, Alec Guinness, Walter Matthau or David Strathairn play. (yes, this is ‘cheating’ – part one)
- Almost anyone Lauren Bacall, Katherine Hepburn, Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith, Julie Walters, Meryl Streep, Kathy Bate or Mary McDonnell play (because I’ve yet to find a ‘my time actress’ that interest me; ie – I’ve yet to figure out why Julia Roberts is so popular)
- In the realm of books: Atticus Finch, Scout, Miss Marple, Nancy Drew, Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, and the protagonists in any Dick Francis mystery.
- The characters that populate my NaNoWriMo projects. Some introduce themselves right at the start. Some hold things back. Some prefer the ‘slight of hand’/protective facade approach. Others seem to discover themselves the same time I do.
What about you? Who are your favorite characters?
