Today is Dictionary Day. Have you played with words today?

“Our language has wisely sensed the two sides of being alone. It has created the word loneliness to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word solitude to express the glory of being alone.” ~ Paul Tillich

Sunday Psalm – Psalm 98

river

Psalm 98

1 Sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
2 The Lord has made his salvation known
and revealed his righteousness to the nations.
3 He has remembered his love
and his faithfulness to Israel;
all the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.

4 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music;
5 make music to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and the sound of singing,
6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—
shout for joy before the Lord, the King.

7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.
8 Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;
9 let them sing before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples with equity.

National Angel Food Cake Day

"Pi Day" by Tommia Wright

“Pi Day” by Tommia Wright

It’s National Angel Food Cake Day. Whose devilish idea was that?

In the foolish pursuit of modifying habits, I said I ate my last cupcake sometime last month – a mango-filled white cake. (For the record, MyCakes located in Snoqualmie has quite the selection to choose from!)

Well, I forgot there are things like birthdays to celebrate, so I might have to adjust that ‘last’ notion. I don’t believe there’s ever been a cupcake I didn’t like.

That could make for an interesting exercise in NaNoWriMo prep – do the various characters like Angel Food Cake or some other flavor? Do they like cake at all?

What are your favorite flavors?

Wednesday Wisdom

In honor of National Curious Events Day:

???????????????????????????????

“I only study the things I like; I apply my mind only to matters that interest me. They’ll be useful—or useless—to me or to others in due course, I’ll be given—or not given—the opportunity of benefiting from what I’ve learned. In any case, I’ll have enjoyed the inestimable advantage of doing things I like doing and following my own inclinations.”
 Nicolas de Chamfort
