So, minor detour from the Doctor Who marathons (just now met the 11th Doctor) to other doctors.
What happened to the simplicity of some shows’ songs? “Quincy M.E.” “Diagnosis Murder,”and “Marcus Welby M.D.” were nice introductions without jarring notes or jumpy scenes.
Compare that to “E.R.” or “Chicago Hope,” each running for half the time above and showing so many snapshots, good luck keeping up with who is who. (Granted, it might help if I ever watched an ep of either show.)
Have you noticed any changes in the style of themes of shows you enjoy?

Words on Trial
Today is World Elephant Day, so curiosity killed the cat in seeing whether or not the children’s book, Babar, had ever found its way to a banned books list. The answer is yes.
Are we expected to rewrite all of the books of the past to match the standards of the present? Or have we forgotten that what was written in that particular period of time was, in part, a reflection of the reality of that time?

Monday Media
I was going to focus on the replays of the Republican Candidate debates, given that the original airtimes were past my bedtime, but took a slight detour to enjoy this instead. Granted, I haven’t finished with the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” yet, but this will work in between Doctor Who and Sherlock marathons… At least I know what to expect with a blue police box, a deerstalker cap and a doctor’s blog.
Saturday Steps
Between the bricks, the outer walls
Do we lock ourselves in/out
Afraid to fall?
We hold the key, we control the lock
The constants ticker is Eternity’s clock

Maybe it’s because I’m re-visiting the new Doctor Who after watching all of the classics I could find (short of splurging via Amazon or eBay), but there’s something fun about themes, especially for shows that span decades.
They somehow remain the same. A comforting element carried throughout, no matter what changes have been made.
Star Trek has that same distinction, with minor hints carried over into the spin-offs (discounting Enterprise – lyrics? Really?) The movies respected the origins of the melody.
The Twilight Zone is at its best in its original form (granted, didn’t really watch the 1985 or 2002 versions; they’re still on the ‘debating’ list).
What themes take you to another world without fail?

Wednesday Waves
I had originally planned on focusing Wednesdays to be “Words on Trial,” looking at how the courts have clashed with certain words, mostly in banned books and curiosity piqued by films such as Howl, The Chattery Affair and Dead Poets Society. Of the films listed, I’ve seen the first two and will review the third one as time permits.
What books/films/plays/songs come to mind when it comes to words being placed on trial?
