Zoning Out: Another One Done

April 30th? What do you mean?!

No! The speed of this year is just obscene!

Oh well, just finished Camp NaNo (barely crossed the line)

The A-to-Z challenge went just fine.

Had the Art House Co-Op Project, done, too.

(Eventually, will get things postmarked before they are due).

Really, this fourth month is through?

Oh, good grief, now what can I do?

NaBloPoMo, come what, May?

Even try to write a story, every single day?

Do I dare press my limits so?

Or should I work on that ‘long word’ of “no?”

Nah, I’ll continue with poems in some way.

Everything’s tempting, every day’s a chance to play!

Yesterday Is What’s Past

Time Encased, Too by Tommia Wright

Time Encased, Too by Tommia Wright

Yesterday is more than a song

Yesterday Road is more than a journey

Yesterday, like tomorrow, arrives in a hurry.

Is it the making of the memories we hold?

Is it the accomplishments we see?

Is it the regrets of what will never be?

What’s lost in our gains in looking back?

What’s gained in our losses in looking ahead?

What’s wrong with remaining in the present instead?

Past the sunrise of the previous morn.

Past the midday’s highest moment of a day gone slow.

Past the evening’s call of the moonlight’s glow.

The Present is a present indeed.

Monday Moment

Many X's

“X marks the spot.”

Folks say that a lot.

Is it here, is it there?

On the ground, in the air?

How much time do we spend

Going over hill, round the bend?

What treasure to we seek?

At what items do we fail to peek

As we go from Point A to Point B

In search of why “X” is the key?

They’ll continue to say “X marks the spot.”

What I value most is already tucked in my heart.

Saturday Snapshot

waterfront from afar

Homecoming – Waterfront from Afar

Wonderful thing about traveling is seeing the waterfront from the air

Nothing against time away, I enjoy my time ‘there.’

But nothing beats coming home

No matter how far I roam.

While my wandering spirit plans the next ‘going to’

I’ll never forget the importance of ‘from.’

Valley

Valley and Mountain

The Valley’s beauty all around

Is accented by the Sound

Mount Si rising from the floor

Evergreens in place of city doors

Like your hometown, this place can be

Ever so peaceful, comforting.

Sometimes events happen to shake the ground.

Strong, safe, we stay – thanks to the one who wears the crown.

A Silly Not So Sesquipedalian Spenserian Sonnet*

S

*(Or what happens when sleep should have started several hours ago.)

The Sonnet

One word, two

Words, three words, four

What will we do

If there are more

To set a score

That could be

More than sand on a shore

Right by the sea.

One word, two words, three

Words, four. What will

We see

When we stand still

To hear the sound

Of the words we found?

Fine poets who inspired them

Line by line, they read

Shine, they did, in assorted ways

Line by line, they read.

Saturday Snapshot

tranquil“A life without a lonely place, that is, without a quiet center, becomes destructive.”  ~Henri Nouwen

Quiet corners away from noise

Can bring about the most blessed of joys

Away from the tethers of tech

And constant chit chat that can wreck

The refuge of silence needed in mind

A reflective moment, reminder – be kind.
