Double Trouble

Double Trouble

This is in response today’s Daily Prompt: Photographers, artists, poets: show us DETAILS.

Seeing a jellyfish up close offers a different perspective on things.

In the meantime, another week comes to an end, with a few things accomplished.

One deadline past/project completed. A wonderful night of writing on the road with other NaNoRhinos. A few other things to contend with before month’s end. A holiday comes to an end as the regular work routine is about to resume. It was great and refreshing while it lasted.

Frivolous Friday

Today’s NaBloPoMo prompt is: If you could quit one bad habit instantly without difficulty, which would it be? The instantly logical answer would be….

Best Time

Sunset Descending by Tommia Wright

Sunset Descending by Tommia Wright

Today’s NaBloPoMo asks “Are you a morning person or a night owl?” This could be a broader interpretation of yesterday’s query, “What is your favourite hour of the day?”

Granted, the above photo is of sunset (taken during the descent from the flight from San Francisco), but I know quite well that I am a morning person. Most of my tasks can be (should be) done before going to work; the hikes are best when fewer people are on the trails, etc….

However, there are times when the Muse’s Madness materializes well after a logical bedtime. (I know when I should call it quits, and more often than not, of late-pun intended- I’ve stayed awake later than I should.) November is the best/worst month – either writing down snippets as they form (long after attending a good-intention write-in) or trying to catch up on word counts before the morn. The next best/worst month is January, with the main Sketchbook Project due.

As for my favorite hour of the day? On any given Sunday, attending church with my father. On any given Saturday morn, a workout class that I’ve failed to attend as frequently as I used to/should. Then again, the quietest hour is the best, as the sun meets the horizon, be it rising or falling.

How about you – daytime or nighttime? A preferred hour of the 24?

Daily Prompt: Traveling

Approaching San Francisco by Tommia Wright

Approaching San Francisco by Tommia Wright

Today’s Daily Prompt asks: Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home./Photographers, artists, poets: show us TRAVELS.

The furthest I’ve ever traveled was to Rome, Italy. The flight was just after the last of the winter term finals. My father took me from the HUB to the airport while I traded backpack for knapsack during the drive.

The Roman Holiday week with my aunt was wonderful, enlightening and refreshing. That Sunday, my father picked me up from the airport, where the bag exchange was done in reverse, and I attended class the next day.

The two above photos were the approach of this weekend’s brief holiday in San Francisco. (I love WordPress’s scheduled postings, as that allowed me to keep current with NaBloPoMo! –NaNoWriMo is another story) I love to catch up with friends in other states; go to places new to me; by train if there’s time, by plane when time flies.

But I love coming home even better.

The Fridge/Ten Questions

Sweet Finish by Tommia Wright

Today’s NaBloPoMo prompt asks about five favorite foods and the feelings behind them. Since I have an empty fridge at the moment, the response is purposefully blank.

The Daily Prompt asks the questions shared at the end of an “Inside the Actors Studio” episode: In abridged form, here are some responses:

1. Favorite Word: Love

2. Least Favorite Word: Hate

3. Creative/Spiritual/Emotional Turn-on: Nature

4. Turn-off: Hate

6. Favorite sound: Children laughing

7. Least Favorite Sound: breaking glass

8. What Profession Would I Attempt: Photo-journalism

9. What Profession Would I Avoid: Politics

How would you answer the ten questions?

Monday Momentary Movie

Today’s NaBloPoMo asks: If you had to be trapped inside a movie for 5 days, which movie would you pick?

I could be comfortable, in the shadows, of The Philadelphia Story. The fun, confusing mayhem in the Lord household prior to a wedding can be interesting. To be strong like Hepburn’s Tracy Lord, or whimsical like Stewart’s Macaulay Connor or have the wry wit of C.K. Dexter Haven…

I liken myself to Elizabeth “Liz” Imbrie.

“No, I-I can’t afford to hate anybody. I’m only a photographer.”

Until they eventually reach the ground

The mosaic seen when all’s serene

Where one assumes clutter, this mind sees clearly

The blessings, treasures and things held most dearly.
