Monday Moment

orange flower 1

Let the rains come as the leaves turn brown
As summer goes, and a new curve is down
Not only in bumbershoots, but the every present frown
Days get colder, snow threatens the ground.
Let the petals catch the drops while they can
Even if the opportunity of growth is now ‘can’t’
Someday the cycle will come back ‘round
Splendid flowers, reachable sunshine to be found

Friday Fast One

Stormy Mountain

Storm’s a brewing
Or something’s stewing.
Maybe it’s just a stall
Even if there’s no trouble at all
With the twists, the turns
Having to accept being unsure
Even if there was once a plan
Realizing, theorizing; definitely no revising for
Editing is not allowed; the Inner Critic the weight of a cloud.

Onward, forward
Visualizing each word
Etching the scene
Revealing a theme

Then again, could be wrong
Happenstance, detours be short, be long
Even in the best laid plot.

Rereading, rewriting
Although, no deleting, revising
Inner Critic, go away
Never darken this November a single day
Because NaNoWriMo charges on
Optimistic against the Pessimistic
Words, words, words – a story grows strong.

Wednesday Words

globes

World
Oh such
Beautiful
Wonder, so much
To see and to do.
Wish you were here with me.
The food, the music, the shows.
The people, their stories…oh Sis
I know what I’ll find is at home.
Pardon me now – off to London and Rome.

(A ‘letter’ written for the character, Tennyson Swan,to his sister, Kai Addison Swan from this year’s NaNoWriMo mystery, “Swim, Swan, Swim.”)

All of you writers out there, are you ready for NaNoWriMo? Most of our FVP featured authors wrote their published works during one of these annual word-weaving extravaganzas. If you don’t have a Region group in your area, we welcome you to join Snoqualmie Valley Region as your Home Region. We’ll be glad to cheer you on to the 50,000 word finish line! If you haven’t written your novel yet, what are you waiting for? Give it a try this November. We’re right here with you!

Here’s the flyer for our local Kick-off Party. If you’re near enough to attend, we look forward to seeing you there!

Tuesday Tanka

leaf w drop

What do you see when
You see the green of the leaf
The curl of the vine
Or the missing bit of green
Maybe the tear drop not seen.

“You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give.”
~ E. O. Wilson
